Access to Information

Like all public bodies, the Secrétariat aux affaires intergouvernementales canadiennes (SAIC) is subject to the The following link opens in another window. Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information. This Act recognizes the rights of citizens, in addition to the right to access documents and personal information concerning them, to request that such information be corrected if it is inaccurate, incomplete or equivocal, or if the collection, release or keeping of the information is not authorized by law.

In line with the Act, the The following link opens in another window. Regulation respecting the distribution of information and the protection of personal information requires public bodies to make documents available on their website. Since April 1, 2015, these bodies must distribute the documents sent under a request for access within five business days of their transmission. These documents must be distributed together with the anonymized decision of the person in charge of access to documents. Making a request

Requests for access to information, or to any other information under the Act, must be sufficiently detailed to enable the public body to find the requested documents.
