Provincial and territorial leaders meeting with national Aboriginal leaders, July 16, 2008

Meeting account

On July 16 in Quebec City, provincial and territorial leaders held their annual meeting with national Aboriginal leaders,  Phil Fontaine of the Assembly of First Nations, Mary Simon of the Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, Clément Chartier of the Metis National Council, Patrick Brazeau of the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples, and Ellen Gabriel replacing Beverly Jacobs of the Native Women's Association of Canada. This event now takes place by tradition  just before the summer meeting of the Council of the Federation. 

The Quebec City meeting addressed various issues related to the goal of closing the socio-economic gap between Aboriginals and other Canadians.
