Intergovernmental resolutions of the Québec National Assembly

The Québec National Assembly has often expressed itself on intergovernmental subjects by means of resolutions. Here is a non-exhaustive list of such resolutions:

2009

Unanimous resolution demanding that the firearms registry be maintained, November 4, 2009.

Resolution demanding that the Federal Government renounce the tabling of any bill whose consequence would be to reduce the weight of Québec in the House of Commons. October 7, 2009.

Resolution urging the Federal Minister of Fisheries to lift the moratorium on cod fishing, June 18, 2009.

Resolution exhorting the Federal Government to provide significant and urgent assistance to Québec's forestry workers, May 29, 2009.

Resolution asking the Federal Government to take note of the report of the Commissioner of Official Languages, to increase its efforts to meet the objectives of the policy and of the Official Languages Act, and reaffirming its wish that the French language be present on an equal footing with the English language on the occasion of the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games, May 27, 2009.

Unanimous resolution demanding that the Government of Québec continue its approaches to the Government of Canada in order that the lands forming Parliament Hill, which the Government of Québec has been leasing from the Federal Government since 1881, be ceded thereto, May 20, 2009.

Resolution demanding that the Federal Government make, as expeditiously as possible, clear  commitments and quickly make known its intentions in order that Québec's seniors be treated justly and with dignity, May 19, 2009.

Resolution demanding that the Federal Government and Canada Post make clear commitments and expeditiously make known their intentions regarding the maintaining of postal services, May 13, 2009.

Resolution condemning the decision by the European Parliament to ban the sale ofproducts derived from seals on the territory of the European Union, May 5, 2009.

Resolution supporting Bill C-241 which aims to remove the employment insurance waiting period, April 29, 2009

Resolution demanding that the Federal Government that it ratify the bilateral double taxation agreements with the jurisdictions that have committed to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development to improve transparency and to establish effective tax information sharing, April 2, 2009

Resolution  demanding the maintaining of the firearms registry, March 31, 2009.

Unanimous resolution asking the Federal Government to treat Québec justly and equitably, by granting compensation that is comparable to that offered to Ontario for the harmonization of its sales tax with the  GST, March 31, 2009

Unanimous resolution demanding that the Federal Government give assistance to workers, communities and businesses affected by the economic slowdown and reiterating the firm opposition to the Canada-wide securities commission project, January 15, 2009

Resolution demanding that the Federal Government revoke its decision to put an end to the financing of economically oriented non-profit organizations, June 10, 2008

Unanimous resolution reaffirming the importance of French as an official language of Canada, June 3, 2008

Unanimous resolution affirming that French language proficiency is a prerequisite and essential condition for the appointment of Supreme Court of Canada judges, May 21, 2008

Unanimous resolution demanding that the Federal Government extend the housing programs, April 8, 2008

Unanimous resolution asking the Federal Government to permanently transfer the Federal excise tax on gasoline, December 14, 2007

Unanimous resolution expressing its disagreement regarding the position of the Canadian Government on climate change, November 28, 2007

Unanimous resolution demanding that the Federal Government ensure that Québec seniors who are not currently receiving the garanteed income supplement to whicch they are eligible by reason of their destitution receive the amounts due to them, November 27, 2007

Unanimous resolution reaffirming that no modification to the Canadian Senate may be carried out without the consent of the Government of Québec and the National Assembly, November 7, 2007

Unanimous resolution asking the Federal Governent to abandon its Canada-wide securities commission project, October 16, 2007

Unanimous resolution asking the Federal Governent to respect Kyoto Protocol by financial contributing to the implantation of the Québec Action Plan on Climate Change, May 24,2006

Unanimous resolution supporting the Government in its requests to the Federal Government in relation to the implementation of the  Kyoto Protocol, November 3, 2005

Unanimous resolution reiterating Québec's intent to refuse any conditions within the framework of the negotiations with Ottawa on the funding of the day care centres programme, October 27, 2005

Unanimous resolution reaffirming the existence of the fiscal imbalance, March 8, 2005

2004

Unanimous resolution supporting the Government of Québec in its approach to have the Federal Government transfer to Québec the amounts derived from the Goods and Services Tax (GST), May 6, 2004

Unanimous resolution demanding that the Federal Government acknowledge the existence of the fiscal imbalance, March 17, 2004
