Québec's offices in Canada

The Secrétariat aux affaires intergouvernementales canadiennes is in charge of Québec’s representation network in Canada. The network has three offices, located in Toronto, Ottawa and Moncton. The first office maintains relations with Ontario, Manitoba and Nunavut; the second with the federal government; and the third with the Atlantic Provinces. Québec also has a branch office in Vancouver, under the responsibility of the head of the Toronto office, for the purpose of maintaining relations with British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, the Yukon and the Northwest Territories.

The prime mandate of these offices is to represent Québec in its relations with the other Canadian governments. Thus, they maintain and develop relations with the main institutions and governments in their respective territories. They are also responsible for safeguarding and promoting Québec’s political, economic, tourism, social and cultural interests. For this purpose, they see to it that the information disseminated about Québec is realistic, dynamic and factual. They inform Québec government authorities of the major political, economic and social issues in their territory and they advise them on intergovernmental relations. Lastly, the network of offices cooperates with Québec’s government departments in organizing various activities in Canada, such as visits by ministers.
